Wall Walk form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The wall walk is a bodyweight exercise in which you walk your feet up a wall and your hands toward it, moving from a push-up position into a near-vertical handstand and back, taxing the shoulders, triceps, and core. Popularized by CrossFit, it is used to build inversion confidence and overhead shoulder endurance, serving as both a skill progression toward handstand work and a demanding conditioning movement.

How to do Wall Walk

  1. 1Lie face-down with your feet touching the base of a wall, then press up into a push-up position.
  2. 2Step your feet onto the wall and begin walking them upward while walking your hands back toward the wall.
  3. 3Brace your core and squeeze your glutes throughout so your lower back does not arch as you become more vertical.
  4. 4Walk in until your chest approaches the wall, or stop earlier at a controlled depth; breathe steadily rather than holding your breath.
  5. 5Reverse the movement by walking your hands away and your feet down with the same control, finishing in the push-up position before the next rep.
