Wall Handstand Push-up form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The wall handstand push-up is a fully inverted bodyweight press performed with the heels or toes supported against a wall, loading the deltoids and triceps with most of your body weight while the wall removes the balance demand. Lifters use it to build serious vertical pressing strength before attempting freestanding handstand push-ups, and it delivers heavy overhead work in settings without barbells or dumbbells.

How to do Wall Handstand Push-up

  1. 1Place your hands on the floor slightly wider than shoulder width, about six inches from a wall, and kick up so your heels rest against it.
  2. 2Squeeze your glutes and brace your core to hold a straight line from wrists to heels, ribs tucked.
  3. 3Inhale as you bend your elbows and lower the crown of your head under control to the floor, elbows tracking about 45 degrees from your torso.
  4. 4Avoid arching into a banana shape or letting your elbows flare fully sideways.
  5. 5Exhale as you press back to a complete lockout, and kick down to rest before your form deteriorates.
