Plate Front Raise form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The plate front raise involves lifting a single weight plate held in both hands from the thighs to shoulder height or slightly above, targeting the anterior deltoids with support from the upper chest and forearms. Lifters use it as a simple front-delt hypertrophy movement when dumbbells are occupied, and the two-handed grip keeps the load centered, making strict form easier to maintain than with independent weights.

How to do Plate Front Raise

  1. 1Stand with feet hip-width apart and grip a weight plate at its sides with both hands, letting it hang at your thighs.
  2. 2Brace your core, soften your knees, and pull your shoulders back and down.
  3. 3Exhale as you raise the plate straight out in front of you to shoulder height with a slight bend in your elbows.
  4. 4Avoid rocking your torso backward or using your hips to swing the plate up.
  5. 5Inhale as you lower the plate slowly back to your thighs, keeping tension in the shoulders through the full descent.
