Reps Only exercise

V-Up form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The V-up is a dynamic floor exercise in which the straight arms and legs rise simultaneously so the body folds into a V shape, demanding strong contraction from the entire rectus abdominis along with the hip flexors. Lifters and gymnasts use it as a high-tension progression beyond crunches and leg raises, since folding the full length of the body in one movement requires both abdominal strength and compression flexibility.

How to do V-Up

  1. 1Lie flat on your back with your legs extended together and your arms stretched overhead along the floor.
  2. 2Press your lower back down and brace your core before initiating the movement.
  3. 3Exhale as you lift your legs and torso simultaneously, reaching your hands toward your toes so your body folds into a V.
  4. 4Keep your legs and arms as straight as possible; do not yank your neck forward or bend your knees to cheat the fold.
  5. 5Inhale as you lower your torso and legs back toward the floor under control, stopping just short of resting between reps to maintain tension.
