Hanging Leg Raise form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The hanging leg raise is a challenging core exercise that primarily targets the rectus abdominis and hip flexors. It is commonly used to build functional abdominal strength, improve pelvic stability, and develop lower-ab definition through controlled, full-range movement.

How to do Hanging Leg Raise

  1. 1Hang from a pull-up bar with an overhand grip, arms fully extended and feet off the floor.
  2. 2Engage your core and tuck your pelvis slightly to prevent excessive swinging.
  3. 3Exhale as you lift your legs, keeping them straight, until they are parallel to the floor or higher.
  4. 4Inhale as you slowly lower your legs back to the starting position with control.
  5. 5Avoid using momentum to swing your body; keep the movement strict and deliberate.
