Cable exercise

Cable Crunch form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The cable crunch is an isolation exercise that targets the rectus abdominis using constant tension from a cable machine. It is commonly used to build core strength and abdominal hypertrophy by allowing for progressive overload that is difficult to achieve with bodyweight crunches.

How to do Cable Crunch

  1. 1Attach a rope handle to a high pulley and kneel facing the machine.
  2. 2Grasp the rope ends and hold them against your forehead, keeping your elbows tucked.
  3. 3Engage your core to curl your torso downward, bringing your elbows toward your thighs.
  4. 4Exhale during the contraction, focusing on rounding your spine rather than pulling with your arms.
  5. 5Inhale while slowly returning to the starting position, maintaining tension throughout the movement.
