Hindu Push-up form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The Hindu push-up is a flowing movement that sweeps from a downward-dog position through a low dive into an upward, chest-open finish, working the shoulders, chest, triceps, and spinal mobility in one continuous arc. Wrestlers and calisthenics practitioners use it to combine pressing strength with shoulder and thoracic mobility, making it a staple of high-rep bodyweight conditioning.

How to do Hindu Push-up

  1. 1Start with your hips high in a downward-dog position, hands and feet on the floor and arms straight.
  2. 2Inhale, then bend your elbows and dive your chest forward in a low arc that skims just above the floor.
  3. 3Exhale as you sweep through and press your chest up and forward, arching into an upward position with hips near the floor.
  4. 4Keep your shoulders pulled away from your ears throughout and avoid letting your lower back pinch at the finish.
  5. 5Push your hips back up to the starting position in reverse arc, or reset directly, and repeat in a smooth continuous rhythm.
