Cable exercise

Triceps Pushdown (Cable) form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The cable triceps pushdown is an isolation exercise that targets the three heads of the triceps brachii. It is commonly used to build arm size, improve pressing strength, and enhance elbow stability through a controlled, constant-tension movement.

How to do Triceps Pushdown (Cable)

  1. 1Attach a straight or angled bar to a high cable pulley and grip it with palms facing down.
  2. 2Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart, keeping elbows tucked firmly against your ribs.
  3. 3Inhale and extend your arms downward until they are fully locked out, focusing on squeezing the triceps.
  4. 4Exhale and slowly return the bar to the starting position, stopping just before your forearms reach parallel to the floor.
  5. 5Maintain a rigid torso throughout the movement to ensure the tension remains on the triceps rather than the shoulders.
