Machine exercise

Leg Extension (Machine) form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The leg extension is an isolation exercise that targets the quadriceps. It is commonly used to build muscle definition, improve knee stability, and provide focused volume for the front of the thighs without involving the glutes or hamstrings.

How to do Leg Extension (Machine)

  1. 1Adjust the backrest and ankle pad so your knees align with the machine's pivot point and the pad rests comfortably on your shins.
  2. 2Grip the side handles for stability and keep your back pressed firmly against the seat.
  3. 3Exhale as you extend your legs until they are straight, squeezing your quadriceps at the top.
  4. 4Inhale as you slowly lower the weight back to the starting position with a controlled tempo.
  5. 5Avoid locking your knees at the top or letting the weight stack touch down between repetitions.
