Cable exercise

Cable Standing Hip Adduction form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The cable standing hip adduction sweeps the leg across the body's midline against a low pulley, isolating the adductor group of the inner thigh while the standing leg stabilizes the pelvis. Lifters use it to strengthen the adductors that contribute heavily to squat depth and sprinting, to balance out abduction-dominant programs, and in groin-injury rehabilitation where controlled, adjustable loading is essential.

How to do Cable Standing Hip Adduction

  1. 1Attach an ankle cuff to a low pulley, fasten it to the ankle nearest the machine, and step out until the cable is taut.
  2. 2Hold the frame with your near hand, stand tall on the outside leg, and brace your core.
  3. 3Exhale and sweep the cuffed leg across your body past the standing leg, squeezing your inner thigh.
  4. 4Keep your torso upright and pelvis level; do not lean away from the machine to cheat extra range.
  5. 5Inhale as you let the leg travel back out to the side slowly until you feel a light inner-thigh stretch, then repeat before changing sides.
