Cardio exercise

Walking form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

Walking is low-intensity, low-impact cardio that works the calves, glutes, and hip flexors while gently elevating heart rate and daily energy expenditure. Lifters and general exercisers use it as foundational aerobic work, active recovery between hard training days, and a sustainable fat-loss tool, since it adds calorie burn with essentially no recovery cost.

  1. 1Choose a route or treadmill and start at a comfortable pace with tall, relaxed posture.
  2. 2Swing your arms naturally and land heel first, rolling through to push off your toes.
  3. 3Breathe easily through a rhythm that lets you hold a full conversation.
  4. 4For a training effect, walk briskly enough that your breathing deepens noticeably, or add hills.
  5. 5Avoid slouching or staring at your phone mid-stride; keep your gaze ahead and finish the session at an easy pace.
