Weighted Bodyweight exercise

Chin-Up form, muscles worked, and workout tracking

The chin-up is a compound upper-body exercise that primarily targets the latissimus dorsi and biceps. By using a supinated (underhand) grip, it emphasizes bicep recruitment compared to pull-ups. It is commonly used as a foundational movement for building vertical pulling strength and upper-body hypertrophy.

How to do Chin-Up

  1. 1Grasp a pull-up bar with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart, and hang with arms fully extended.
  2. 2Engage your core and retract your shoulder blades to prepare for the pull.
  3. 3Inhale, then pull your chest toward the bar by driving your elbows down and back.
  4. 4Continue until your chin clears the bar, maintaining a controlled tempo.
  5. 5Exhale as you slowly lower your body back to the starting position with full arm extension.
